Tinley Park, Illinois was a growing southwest suburb in 1974 with new families and businesses flocking to the community.
According to the Tinley Park Historical Society, the 1974 population of Tinley Park was 20,782, a sizable jump from the 12,382 residents recorded in 1970.
Vice President Gerald Ford visited Tinley Park High School on February 13, 1974 to celebrate the Tinley Park Titans Varsity Football Team. Congressman Edward Derwinski (R-4) invited the vice-president to celebrate the team’s 25 game winning streak and three consecutive conference championships.
And, St. Julie Billiart Roman Catholic Church was established on an eight acre parcel at 7399 West 159th Street.
